Do I Need Social Media?

Necessary Vocabulary

Copy – Think as copy as literature, or text. Just a fancier word for it. Copy is usually used in the advertising world moreso than literature.

Niche – A small specialized group of a larger market. A group of certain people can be a niche, but so can reselling computer parts from the 90’s.

Bitmoji – Personalized cartoon character version of yourself. Heavily integrated into Snapchat, as well as on the Google Pixel (phone) keyboard.

Social Media This. Social Media That. Do I actually need it?

The Short and Sweet

Yes, social media is a huge factor in digital marketing. Used properly, social media can build brand awareness, increase conversions, increase traffic to your site, and so forth. With some common sense and dedication, you can use the social media platforms built by the billionaires of the world to help your company expand.

Many times, people think that ‘it depends’ is the correct answer to whether or not social media is right for you and your business. While it does depend on some aspects, social media can be integrated one way or another. Personally, I have seen successful Funeral Home, Hunting, Rock Painting, and even Cheese Sculpting Facebook pages use that platform successfully.

Okay, So Social Media is Important. How Can I Use It Better?

Just that. Use it. Don’t think that you can post one piece of content, and expect steady conversions for weeks after that. You need to stay with it, or not use it at all. Here’s my perfect little cheatsheet laid out for you:

Snapchat: Take a beautiful, interesting or funny picture and post it. That simple. If it can relate back to you and what your business stands for, then that’s even better. If there’s nothing to take pictures of, get creative. Use short engaging copy and use stickers, emojis, bitmojis, etc.

Twitter: This is the perfect platform for small updates + content that your normal audience might not be super interested in, but a certain niche might. People may disagree with this, but Twitter is the perfect entrance into a more personal connection than Facebook or Instagram can provide. Everything on Twitter is just more lax than Facebook or Instagram. Get personal on Twitter.

Facebook: I use Facebook as my main hub for social media, just because a majority of the niches that I manage social media in have a high target audience on Facebook. I’ve seen very amazing results on Facebook by creating an equal mixture of unique video content, giveaways/other forms of giving back to the community and showing people that you are listening to them.

Instagram: Instagram is the best place for heavily picture oriented content. Instagram is the easiest social media platform to overlook copy. Most users are on mobile, and they slide, and slide, and slide. If they like your picture, they’ll double tap it. If they don’t like it, they’ll scroll past it. If they are interested, then they will read what you wrote in the description.
